Twin Salvations

By Cheryle M. Touchton
The Pocket Full of Quarters Lady

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.Rom 10:13 KJV

Twins! I wondered what their mother thought about when she held them as infants and gazed into their beautiful ebony dimpled faces. She named them Jacob and Jeremiah – Bible names. She must have wanted them to know God.

“Do you go to church?” I asked. Jacob and Jeremiah were sitting with two of their friends. I’d already found out that they played college football and that the couple they were sitting with was dating.

“Our uncle is a pastor,” Jacob said.

“That is not what I asked,” I said. “Do you go to church?”

“We’ve been in church a lot.”

“OK,” I said. “Let’s see if you know the answer to my trick questions. Are you ready?”

“Sure,” everyone at the table nodded.

“If something happened to you today and you didn’t live through the day, do you know where you will go?”

“I hope heaven,” everyone said except the blond headed blue eyed young woman.

“I don’t know,” she whispered, looking down.

“A good honest answer,” I said to her, as I touched her shoulder. I looked at the 3 boys. “For the 3 of you, I have a second question. When you get to heaven and God asks, ‘why should I let you in?’ what will you say?”

“We told you,” Jeremiah said. “Our uncle is a pastor.”

Their friend said, “I’d tell him I’ve been good.”

“Your uncle can’t get you into heaven,” I said to the twins. I looked at all 4 of the well dressed clean cut young people. “The Bible says all have sinned. The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life. Next is my favorite line in the Bible. All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Let’s do that right now."

All 4 young people bowed their heads in reverence and repeated the words that would change their destiny. The young lady wept all the way through it. At the end of the prayer, they looked up and their faces were glowing. I took their pictures and you can meet them in the Photo Gallery under Georgia – Kennesaw – Friday night.

“Have any of you ever prayed that before?” I asked. They all shook their heads.

“Our uncle is going to be happy,” one of the twins said.

“Not near as happy as the heavens are.” I said. “The Bible says all of heaven is now throwing a party and there is no party like an angel party.”

Friday was the day of salvation for Jacob, Jeremiah, and their 2 friends. I feel so blessed to be called to do this full time. There is nothing I’d rather be doing. 10 people called on the name of the Lord in an hour of walking around a Kennesaw, Georgia mall. Thank you if you donated to this journey. If you haven’t donated, pray about joining us in this holy work. Donating
